Join us for Cultivating the Genius of Black Scholars: From the Boardroom to the Classroom, This reflective webinar serves to assist participants in becoming antiracist through acknowledging, centering, and combatting anti-Blackness, and the lifting of Black genius and joy. We acknowledge that our systems will not change and transform without the inclusion and participation of all community stakeholders and partners. School boards knowingly and unknowingly harness and hold immeasurable power, positional privilege, control, and governance. These roles have been historically dominated by white women and steeped in the culture of Whiteness, therefore, avoiding and neglecting the experiences of Black children, their families, and communities. We approach our work and service with the expectation that Boards will actively participate in deep reflection (individual, systemic, and systematic), critical analysis, community involvement and engagement, and other community-rooted practices that help to hold accountable district and school leaders, as they support and ensure educational excellence in the classroom. We know the problem, and therefore, we will not continue to keep our gaze there. Instead, we will prioritize the promise of educational justice and equity for each and every child and scholar in our systems.
